In recent years, podcasts have entered the world of education, but have left various fields of application unexplored, including that of language teacher training. The study reports on a project realized at the University for Foreigners of Perugia aimed at creating a collaborative podcast on language education. Thanks to the project, the participants, i.e. future teachers of Italian as a foreign language, were able to experience several topics dealt with in the episodes (e.g. project-based learning, mobile learning, collaborative learning), developed new digital competencies as well as linguistic and transversal skills. The results, based on quantitative and qualitative data, confirm the effectiveness of podcasting as a training tool for language teachers, but also highlight some critical issues, leading to some considerations for further improvements.
