La provincia in Luciano Bianciardi

This article points out key moments in Bianciardi’s work which turn out to be really useful to look into the portrait he conveys of his small-town life from the 50s to the early 60s. Starting from his early sketches published in various magazines and then moving to the first two novels, Il lavoro culturale (1957) «Diacritica», VIII, 45, 25 agosto 2022, vol. I 6 and L’integrazione (1960), we will show that his caricature sketches are the outcome of a critical analysis of the characters’ material conditions.
