The paper is aimed at describing the pedagogical perspective, the methodological frameworkand the organization of the online courses delivered by IUL, Italian University Line,the Italian online university co-funded and promoted by INDIRE (National Institute forDocumentation, Innovation and Educational Research) and by the University of Florence.Moving from the theoretical background of the Knowledge building model and from abrief introduction to the university system and the perspective of an integratedknowledge system in Higher Education, the paper will focus on the main features of thecourses delivered by IUL, with particular attention to a case example from a course in Biologicaland Epistemological Sciences.Shifting theory into practice means to cope with rules and resources management, especiallywithin a legal and institutional setting as the university system. Strengths and weaknessdiscussion on the case example aims to present this ongoing process of quality evaluationand self-reflection on teaching at IUL University.
