The article provides an edition of three writings by painter Dono Doni from Assisi. It analyses their language aiming to provide a synthesis of the main phenomena of Assisi’s medieval vernacular which, before the fourteenth century, shows characteristics typical of central Italy and Southern-Eastern Umbria. From mid fourteenth century those features will be modified due to the influence of the language of Perugia and literary language.
