In the context of the Doomer digital subculture first, and later with a much more widespread presence on TikTok and Instagram, in recent years there has been a surge in Soviet brutalist-related contents and in Eastern Europe’s places and atmospheres’ revival, as shown by the popularity gained on social media by the Belarusian band Molchat Doma and their song Sudno. This essay aims to reconstruct the reasons and dynamics behind the spreadability of this kind of contents, primarily seeking them in the dialogue between music and imagery, which in these cultural products carry alternative meanings in terms of imagery and identity.
