The essay presents an unpublished song on the fall of Costantinople (1453), transmitted by manuscript 249 of the Municipal Library and the Etruscan Academy of Cortona. In addition to publishing it and providing it with commentary, the article tries to contextualize the composition of the poetic text, addressed to Pope Nicholas V, and discusses its attribution, proposing to assign it to the Perugian poet Lorenzo Spirito Gualtieri.
