This article aims at exploring the link between the capitalist dynamic in the Southern Cone at the be-ginning of the 2000s, Alto Parana’s textile maquila, and the condition of extraction of surplus value that are prev-alent in it. Particularly, we analyze the divergent trajectories of Brazilian and Paraguayan dependent capitalism that underpin its existence. Brazilian capital’s need to reestablish the conditions for its accumulation after its cri-sis in 2010-2011 prompted its extroversion and subimperial attitude.
