In che rapporto con l’eterno? Note di lettura su Dissipatio H.G. di Guido Morselli

The essay focuses on the relationship between Guido Morselli and the presence-absence of God within his production, choosing his latest novel, Dissipatio H.G., as a privileged book able to bring to maturity a reflection already initiated by other works of fiction, by the Diario, as well as by the fundamental essay Fede e critica. The idea of the divine, initially investigated in its mysterious inscrutability, appears finally read, in Dissipatio H.G., as absurd wickedness: source of an apocalypse that is not produced except as a form of private ataraxia, whose root is to be seen in the philosophical thought of Giuseppe Rensi, as well as in the current of Buddhist thought that came to Morselli filtered by Rensi himself and by the reading of Nietzsche. The essay is enriched by some assessments of the novel’s theory, based on the fundamental critical contribution of Frank Kermode The Sense of an Ending.
