Preistoria del codice siciliano. Stefano D'Arrigo poeta

The essay has the aim to investigate Stefano D'Arrigo's literary education, during his studies in Letters at the University of Messina, through unpublished correspondence with the italianist and philologist Gianvito Resta and through a survey in the writer's real library. The assiduous readings of poetry date back to that period, mainly texts of Ermetismo, not only from the "southern" side: Libero De Libero, Alfonso Gatto and Leonardo Sinisgalli, to which are added the Masters like Montale, Ungaretti, Quasimodo. Also discussed are the history of the writing of the first collection of verses from the Codice siciliano and some unpublished poems that were excluded from it are. The contribution is accompanied by an appendix of unpublished works: youthful verses, a poem written in 1954 and a letter to De Libero from the same year.

Presentando testimonianze epistolari inedite di Stefano D’Arrigo a Gianvito Resta e a Libero De Libero, documentando l’iter genetico della prima raccolta di versi Codice siciliano e indagando nella biblioteca reale dello scrittore siciliano le letture di poesia risalenti ai primi anni Quaranta, il contributo intende ricostruirne la formazione letteraria che risulta negli anni universitari alimentata da assiduo studio dei testi dell’ermetismo, in modo particolare nel suo versante meridionale: oltre a De Libero, Alfonso Gatto e Leonardo Sinisgalli, ai quali si aggiungono i Maestri, Montale, Ungaretti, Quasimodo. Il contributo è accompagnato da un’appendice di inediti: versi giovanili, una poesia scritta nel 1954 e una lettera a De Libero dello stesso anno.
