Notwithstanding its young age, the Italian Advanced Placement Program and Exam (APP) have had to face and overcome quite a few asperities throughout its brief history. All those who work or have worked as teachers, organizers, or promoters for the success of the Italian language and culture in the USA are very much aware of such struggles. Therefore, following the administration of 11 exams over the 2006-2019 period, it is high time to take stock: to this end, this article provides an initial evaluation of the results of the AP Italian Language and Culture Exam and offers a few suggestions with a view to its continued successfulness
