Promoting International Academic Cooperation and AI-Enhanced Italian Language Teaching. IMPACT Innovative Mediterranean Partnership for Advancing Collaborative Teaching.

This volume presents the outcomes of the IMPACT project (Innovative Mediterranean Partnership for Advancing Collaborative Teaching), a Euro-Mediterranean academic partnership led by Roma Tre University. This contribution, edited by the University for Foreigners of Perugia, a partner institution within the consortium, documents the University's role within the project, focusing on staff and student mobility, teaching innovation, and artificial intelligence for language teaching and assessment. Organized into eight parts, the volume outlines the institutional framework and policy background of the project, and highlights its main outcomes: the intercultural experience connected to mobility programmes for academic staff and students; the Al capacity-building initiatives carried out through the Al-Forward Winter School and the Spring Days on Al; the development of the Scenari ItallAni platform for Al-enhanced Italian language learning and future prospects for the sustainability of the partnership. A repository of good practices and first-hand accounts from students and teachers involved in the mobility activities further grounds the volume in empirical evidence. Addressed to researchers, educators, and other stakeholders in language teaching, language assessment, and the internationalization of higher education, the volume contributes to the ongoing debate on the role of mobility in competence development, as well as on the conditions, criteria, and limits of a responsible integration of artificial intelligence into language education in the Euro-Mediterranean context.
