Phraseology has established itself as an integral part of second language (L2) learning and teaching. It has spawned major investigatory efforts in both research and practice across various fields of inquiry, such as corpus linguistics, psycholinguistics, and language education (see Siyanova-Chanturia & Pellicer-Sanchez, 2019). In the present contribution, we sought to shed light on the developmental aspect of the L2 phrasicon, by tracing the trajectory of MWEs used in a longitudinal corpus of learner writing. For this purpose, we collected and analysed longitudinal corpus data from a representative sample of L2 learners, focusing on the production of one kind of MWEs, namely verb-noun sequences.

Abstract
Phraseology has established itself as an integral part of second language (L2) learning and teaching. It has spawned major investigatory efforts in both research and practice across various fields of inquiry, such as corpus linguistics, psycholinguistics, and language education (see Siyanova-Chanturia & Pellicer-Sanchez, 2019). In the present contribution, we sought to shed light on the developmental aspect of the L2 phrasicon, by tracing the trajectory of MWEs used in a longitudinal corpus of learner writing. For this purpose, we collected and analysed longitudinal corpus data from a representative sample of L2 learners, focusing on the production of one kind of MWEs, namely verb-noun sequences.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
