L’Umbria nell’età liberale. Politica, economia e società

This essay reconstructs the constitutive elements of Umbrian society on the eve of the unification process, which is the backdrop to the mutual aid and socio-assistential activities examined in this volume. The paper highlights the most significant economic and political developments that shaped the distinctive features of a region formed through the aggregation of diverse territories over the course of the three centuries of the Early modern age.

Il saggio ricostruisce gli elementi costitutivi della società umbra alla vigilia del processo di unificazione, contesto in cui si collocano le attività di mutuo soccorso e di assistenza sociale esaminate nel volume. Il contributo mette in luce gli sviluppi economici e politici più significativi che hanno plasmato i tratti distintivi di una regione formatasi attraverso l’aggregazione di territori eterogenei nel corso dei tre secoli dell’età moderna.
