The Troyes Cicero, ms. of the Médiathèque de Champagne Métropole “J. Chirac”, 552-2, is a rich collection of Ciceronian texts, owned by Petrarch as early as the 1340s. The ‘De natura deorum’ is one of the works most heavily annotated by the poet, who paid close attention to its theological and religious content, to the elegance of Cicero’s style, to the figures mentioned in the text, as well as to descriptions of the natural world.
