In 1970, UNESCO published Students as Links Between Cultures, highlighting the key role of international students in intercultural communication. The volume Between: Digital Strategies of Intercultural Design. An Inclusive Approach to the International Communication of Global Universities analyzes the evolution of university communication in the digital sphere, proposing an innovative model of Intercultural Design aimed at attracting and retaining international students. This approach is based on inclusive communication that is sensitive to cultural differences. The Between communication paradigm is structured around three main pillars: adapting communication to cultural contexts, understanding the informational needs of students, and designing web content that aligns with the cultural expectations of diverse audiences. Through research conducted at the Swedish Council for Higher Education and the University for Foreigners of Perugia, the author provides practical tools to enhance the digital communication strategies of academic institutions. This book serves as a guide for professionals in university communication, with the goal of promoting a more inclusive and accessible education system. At the same time, it seeks to contribute to the academic debate on international institutional communication and digital design.
Nel 1970, l’UNESCO pubblicò Students as links between cultures, evidenziando il ruolo chiave degli studenti internazionali nella comunicazione interculturale. Il volume Between: strategie digitali di Intercultural Design. Un approccio inclusivo nella comunicazione internazionale di atenei globali analizza l’evoluzione della comunicazione universitaria in ambito digitale, proponendo un modello innovativo di Intercultural Design volto ad attrarre e fidelizzare studenti internazionali. Questo approccio si basa su una comunicazione inclusiva e sensibile alle differenze culturali. Il paradigma comunicativo Between si articola su tre pilastri principali: adattamento della comunicazione ai contesti culturali, comprensione dei bisogni informativi degli studenti e progettazione web coerente con le aspettative culturali dei diversi pubblici. Attraverso ricerche condotte presso lo Swedish Council for Higher Education e l’Università per Stranieri di Perugia, l’autrice fornisce strumenti pratici per migliorare la comunicazione digitale delle istituzioni accademiche. Il testo si propone come un manuale destinato a chi si occupa di comunicazione universitaria, con l’obiettivo di promuovere un sistema educativo più inclusivo e accessibile. Al contempo, l’opera intende contribuire all’arricchimento del dibattito accademico sui temi della comunicazione istituzionale internazionale e del design digitale.
