The chapter discusses the historical narrative on the supposed German economic domination over the EEC during the Cold War. The case study of Italy offers an insight on the Cold War propaganda and explains also the developments in the anti-German narrative after the signature of the Maastricht Treaty. The chapters offers a useful instrument to understand the current debate on the process of European economic integration as well as an analytical tool for a critical assessment of German-Italian relations.

Abstract
